Welcome to the Edmonton Initiative "YEG Against Racism" event!
Join us for an inspiring event where we stand together against racism! Sania Chaudhry will share her powerful insights on how we can make a difference. The event is the second in a series of events aiming at tackling the root causes of Racism and Discrimination in our society and brainstorming for how to keep our city culturally safe.

Guest Speaker:
Sania Chaudhry is a lawyer with Forte Workplace Law offering services to employers and employees in employment and human rights matters, as well as conducting workplace investigations and respectful workplace, unconscious bias, and anti-racismtraining for clients in both Alberta and BC, Canada. Prior to that, she was Conduct Counsel at the Real Estate Council of Alberta, prior to which she practiced in family and immigration law. She is also a current part-time student at the University of Calgary Faculty of Law in their Masters of Law program, with her research focusing on critical race theory and administrative law in the context of reasonable apprehension of bias. She is also a sessional instructor at the University of Calgary Faculty of Law teaching critical race theory and law. She is also currently a part-time tribunal member at the Workers Compensation Appeals Commission of Alberta.
Sania has been active on multiple boards, organizations, and committees and has spoken and written about equity, diversity, inclusion, and wellness. Her episode on Mental Health in the Legal Profession on the Canadian Bar Association Every Lawyer Podcast was the most downloaded episode of that podcast in 2023. She was recognized in 2022 as a Top 30 Under 30 by the Alberta Council of Global Cooperation. Also in 2022, she was the recipient of the Women Who Inspire Award by the Canadian Council of Muslim Women and the Community Crusader Award by the South Asian Inspiration Awards. In 2023, she was awarded the Rising Star Award by the South Asian Bar Association of Calgary and was shortlisted as an Excellence Awardee in the Female Trailblazer (Private Practice) category for the Canadian Law Awards. She was named one of 2023’s Top 25 Influential Lawyers by Canadian Lawyer Magazine in the Changemaker category.
